fun busy-ness {photoaday}

self portrait: had I realized that this was the prompt a few days ago, I probably wouldn’t have done a selfy for ‘imperfect’. Oh well… this is me exhausted after a 12 hour car ride to St Louis.

busy: 4 year old nephew is constantly in motion, playing with toys, talking non-stop, and singing about bars of soap (that story is for another day)

best part of your day: we arrived in Kansas City and the family convened for dinner upon our arrival as always. It’s chaos but I love it. A chance to sit down for a visit with Pappaw is such a blessing.

fun: 4th of July traditions… opening ceremonies, the national anthem, a picnic, catching up with old friends & family and of course the annual Bill Couser Memorial Horseshoe Tournament. I played for the first time this year with cousin Michelle as my partner. It was miserably hot but we had a good time even though we lost both our games. Gotta start practicing for next year…

on the floor: Addi was kind enough to oblige me with a silly face and then chose her filter for this shot. She’s such a nut and has the most adorable giggle on the face of this planet.

chair: settled in after happy hour at the hodie (this is what the kids call the hotel). Time to chill.

a few insights {photoaday}

imperfect: it’s said that you’re your own worst critic and I am no different. I’m learning to accept my flaws – inside & out – and put them in the proper perspective. physical imperfections are so easy to focus on and pick apart but they are what make us unique. accepting my imperfections and not let them affect my confidence has always been a struggle but growing in this area more and more. and my internal imperfections… selfishness, pride, jealousy, really too many others to name… those are the things that make me so very thankful for grace. so this is me… absolutely positively imperfect but embracing it with each passing day.

a fave photo you’ve ever taken: this was just a quick snapshot of my niece. she was so done with my camera in her face but she still wanted to ham it up.

where you slept: this is my bed. it’s all mine and yes, i use 4 pillows.

it’s raining. again. {photoaday}

drink: instant breakfast on the ride to work. it’s just enough to get me by until I can get some caffeine in this bloodstream o’mine

six o’clock: there are these giant clover-looking things  that I pass by on my way to and from work. I’ve been meaning to stop oh so many times that I finally just said ‘that’s it. today’s the day’ and it just so happened to be right at 6 o’clock. Convenient, no?

your view today: spent the day camping lakeside with friends. The weather was perfect – a little overcast, not too hot with a nice breeze blowing. We talked, laughed a lot, played games, grilled out and made s’mores of course. It was fabulous. Until about 4 am when the bottom fell out of the sky and dumped buckets on us. Oh well. That’s the stuff memories are made of.

best bit of your weekend: it may have rained on our camp site but we had a nice screened porch at our disposal. Made for a great discussion of a Bible study over breakfast.

door: it’s been raining for 2 days. Caught a little bit of a break as I pulled in the driveway. Made it inside the front door just as it poured once again.

from a low angle: almost forgot to take a photo! Girls night in an old locale, complete with candlelight, junk food and chit chat. Another great one for the record books.

it’s floppy hat season {photoaday}

It’s June. JUNE! Geez. I can hardly believe it but here it is so let’s just embrace it, ok? Kicking off another month with fat mum slim and her instagram photoaday challenge. It’s not too late to jump in. It’s so fun to see my friends’ interpretations of the prompts AND to see the other participants’ photos. There are thousands of images submitted each month and a fun community of folks just snapping their little hearts out. And guess what? Instagram isn’t just for those with iphones anymore…now droid users can play too. Come on in, the water’s fine.

morning: the morning drive to work… no traffic. aren’t you commuters jealous?

empty: an empty dishwasher? This never happens.

on your plate: creme de menthe brownies. oh my goodness. a little bit of heaven here on earth. (thanks, Renee!)

close-up: I’m still l.o.v.i.n.g. my olloclip. It makes even the most mundane things look pretty darn cool.

sign: a vintage sign in the little town near my office. In fact, there are a couple others similar to it along the main road. I love that the current businesses have left them untouched.

 hat: it’s floppy hat season! I bought one last year for the cruise. It’s time to bust this bad boy out, don’t ya think?!
