So I’m taking a Night Photography class and really just got started with the lessons. This was my first venture out to play with the bit of information I’ve retained so far. And by bit of info I mean: couldn’t wait to try it, didn’t take my notes with me so I did things all wrong but was so geeked out by the results I don’t care. Seriously.

Both images are SOOC except for creating the diptych.

And yes, this is supposed to be Wordless Wednesday but I cannot stay silent about this class. Kent is a great teacher, fantastic photographer, #photochat coordinator (with Darcy), and so happy to call him a friend in the twitterverse. The class is not expensive and it is most definitely worth every penny.

Another Sunday night, another chance to hang with kiddos (the other set of 2). Playing games, legos, and making yummy desserts.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love being an aunt? I have? Oh well. Get use to it.

Every intention of getting up early Tues to try my hand at capturing the morning Blue Hour so gear was all set to go the night before.
(Um…guess where I was Tues morning? yep. snug as a bug in a rug & sound asleep. I’m thinking the evening is more my cup of tea for capturing that brief window of time)

In some ways, ivy makes for low maintenance yard work but in others it is the bane of my existence. It climbs trees, fences, car port, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. and it is annoying. ugh.

Valentine’s day never has been a big deal to me even when in a relationship (though honestly I can’t remember the last time I was dating someone on ♥ day – such is life). This year was fun – out to eat at a Chinese restaurant with a big group from church (25+ peeps) and had a fantastic time. Good food, lots of laughter and great conversation.
The church group went to Forbidden City together… ironic, no?

Wednesday night = girls night as always
Just got this game and gave it a whirl with the girls. Lots of fun & it doesn’t take forever to finish like the regular card game. Though us spending hours together is nothin’

Even though I have been posting more regularly on here lately, it seems like ages since I sat down to edit photos & work on the blog. So tonight I’m sitting here at the computer and catching up on Idol. Might sound boring but it’s quite cathartic

Until I sat down tonight to upload & edit photos, I didn’t realize both of these photos were drink related. Guess I’ve been thirsty.

Couldn’t pass up a $2 drink from Caribou so I popped in for my favorite: Caramel Highrise.

I’ve got some weird thing happening with the circuit that goes to the dishwasher so guess what I get to do?

Popped in on my sister’s Sat night. Niece had to show off her mad weight-bench balancing skills.
Guys only like girls who have really great skills…

Then to my other sister’s on Sunday for the ~~commercials~~ game and got schooled in Candyland by a 3 year old.

Random item from my house: my aunt (mom’s sister) made these mugs ages ago. And when I say ages… I mean it was so long ago I was an only child at the time.
Does the phrase “leave the gun, take the cannoli” say anything at all?
I’ve always loved these mugs and mom finally handed over mine and the one that says ‘friend’ a few months back. They sit so lovely on a shelf in my kitchen.

So I think I might just be a glutton for punishment or maybe a wee bit crazy. Not only am I tackling project 365 this year, but I’ve also jumped on board for 2 (yes TWO) instagr.am photo-a-day challenges. The creators of these 2 memes have put together a month’s worth of daily prompts. I missed the boat on January altogether but have jumped in with both feet for Feb. So in addition to working on my mad dSLR photography skills but I want to do the same with iphoneography. (it is too a word. I didn’t make it up. promise)

january… off to a good start

Taking on Project 365 this year has already proved to be worth it. It has challenged me to put thought into the photo for the day. To really look at composition, exposure, aperture, and shutter speed. This time around, I want to try to avoid the “oh crap it’s the end of the day and I haven’t taken a picture – here’s some random thing… click… now I can go to bed” syndrome. I fell into that rut way too often with the last 365. There will be times that this happens, don’t get me wrong. But the goal is to try. And to grow. To be able to look back and see a year of my life, my perspective, my view of the world through a lens and see some interesting and hopefully beautiful images.
